Welcome to matthewsteiner.com, the online home for Matthew Steiner and matthewsteiner.com, Inc. This is a personal website with business objectives. My mission is to utilize technology to make business more efficient.

I am the IT Director at Second Harvest Heartland, the Midwest's largest hunger relief organization. I am also the founder/owner of matthewsteiner.com, Inc. that was started in 1999.

Personality

I without a doubt have a type A/concrete sequential personality. I am an EXTREMELY organized, detail-oriented, anal retentive person. According the MBTI I am an ISTJ. Which means I am quiet, serious, and earn success by throughness and dependability. I am practical, matter-of-fact, realistic, and responsible. I decide logically what should be done and work toward it steadily, regardless of distractions. I take pleasure in making everything orderly and organized in my work, home, and life. I value traditions and loyalty.

Pleasures

My greatest pleasures in life are spending time with family, utilizing technology, singing and listening to music, watching and discussing movies, and playing video games and sports.

Family

I am the oldest of three. My parents are Darrell and Mary. My brother, Corey, is three years younger than me. My sister, Ashley is nine years younger than me. I am also married to my beautiful wife, Kate and have a dog named, Widget.

Technology

I freely admit that I am a geek. My home office is called, "The Nerdery". I love how technology usually makes life easier. What's even better is that my other pleasures fully embrace technology. So far the best technological device invented to me is the iPod. I can carry my entire music library wherever I go. I also have a passion for standards compliant web development. There's just something about the perfect marriage of programming and design that's beneficial to all industries and can viewed anywhere in the world. I'm also an active member of the Twin Cities ColdFusion User Group.

Music

Music is a big part of my life. I love singing and listening to music. I have been singing as long as I can remember. My favorite types of music are and what I call "Piano Rock", Contenporary A Cappella, and Movie Scores. I have been recording my own music in the Steiner Recording Studio and hope to release a solo album one day.

The number of movies I watch is a little insane. I used to work in a movie theatre and saw free movies all the time which fueled my passion for movies. Ever since I joined Netflix I have rented hundreds of movies.

My Xbox 360 has been a great stress reliever and enjoyable entertainment experience all around. With high definition becoming more and more widespread the quality of games keep increasing and may surpass my interest in movies since they are more engaging.

Sports

To stay in shape, and relieve stress I am pretty active in sports. I am usually in two-three leagues a season. Sports I am active in include; Basketball, Downhill Skiing, Hockey, Pool, Soccer, Volleyball, and Wakeboarding.
